Numerous historical castles, palaces and monasteries can be visited. Some are in the vicinity e.g. Cochem castle, Castle Eltz, Castle Metternich and Marienburg castle.
The Calmont climbing trail - a hiking trail taking you through the Calmont, one of the steepest vineyards in Europe, offers magnificent and fascinating panoramic views of the Moselle.
Discover the Moselle and the surrounding hill regions of the Hunsrück and Eifel using the numerous and well-developed footpath and bicycle path system.
Fun parks and deer parks in the Eifel region are great excursions not only for "the little ones".
A special attraction is the famous centre for semi-precious stones in Idar-Oberstein with its world famous church built in a rock face and situated in the nearby Hunsrück region.
The Eifel region with its volcanic crater lakes called Maare are suitable for swimming and boating; and the famous Formula One racing track and racing car adventure experience is located at the Nürburgring and worth a day's visit.
At Cochem there is a leisure complex including an indoor pool with waves, giant water slide, children's water world, outdoor pool, sauna landscape and solarium providing something for everyone.
